Ndi Anambra have been urged to embark on mass agricultural activities to boost food production.

Speaking to Newsmen in Awka, the National Chairman of the Willie Obiano Support Group, Chief Jude Emecheta said this will enable the State achieve food security against the adverse effect of the covid-19 which is currently ravaging the International Community.

Paul Ezeoke reports that according to Chief Emecheta, already the Obiano administration has mapped out huge expanse of land for farming activities this year and distributed inputs and other incentives to farmers to expand and scale up their activities.

He urged youths to use the present situation to participate actively in farming to increase their source of livelihood pointing out that the present pandemic that has brought glut in the Oil Market provided a good opportunity for Nigeria to diversify its economy by investing heavily in Agriculture where she has a comparative advantage.

Chief Emecheta commended Governor Willie Obiano for giving governance a human face, noting that his economic stimulous packages to various communities did not only cushion the effects of the lockdown but also encouraged privileged members of various communities to support the less privileged persons and urged people to continue to comply with safety directives to prevent the virus from the State.

Also speaking, the National Chairman of Anambra State Mandate for Good Governance, Mr Olisa Aniyno extolled Governor Obiano for providing purposeful and responsive leadership in tackling the challenges of covid-19 and urged residents of the State not to abuse the relaxation of some restrictions of the lockdown by the government.

Mr Aniuno noted that the introduction of Teaching on Air in ABS platforms has enabled pupils and students to engage in active learning while at home and commended the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah and his management team for effectively sustaining the programme.
