A cooking gas plant, illegally operating at Awuda, Nnobi, Idemili South Council Area has been sealed-off by Anambra state government.
Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the seal-off was carried out by officers of the state Physical Planning Board.


The seal-off followed the state government’s directive that operators of cooking gas plants should remove their skids by themselves or risk government action.

The Acting General Manager, Anambra state Physical Planning Board, Mr. Nwabufo Anene, said such structure is not acceptable in that location , as it is surrounded by residential buildings.


Mr. Anene, who frowned at some operators that flout government’s directive, stressed that the Directorate of Petroleum Recourses approval is subject to the state government’s approval in siting such facilities . He asked developers to follow lay down guildlines in executing their business plans, by asking the right questions and getting approvals to avoid incurring avoidable losses.


While urging illegal operators of gas plants to remove them to avoid unpleasant consequences, Mr. Anene advised developers, who still have the intention of erecting such illegal structure to desist forth with.
The Executive Chairman of the Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe, was also present during the exercise.
