Anambra State House of Assembly Special Committee on COVID-19 has
expressed satisfaction with the performance of security personnel at
the Anambra State boundaries with her neighbours in Orumba North and
South Local Government Areas.
The Committee disclosed this when it went on assessment visit at the
boundaries to monitor the level of compliance to the boundary closure.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that on arrival at Enugwuabo-Ufuma, the Anambra boundary with Enugu State, it was observed that security personnel deployed there blocked it, restricting movements of Motorists, except vehicles conveying food items and medicals.
The committee commended the security officers at the boundary and
Ufuma youths that work with them.
At Ufuma-Akpugoeze boundary, it was observed that the boundary was
closed, while security officers were present to prevent entry into the
State.
The Committee also visited other Anambra, Imo and Abia State
boundaries, including Ihite-Arondizuogu boundary, Ihite-Ndiorji boundary
and Owerre-Ezukala-Isuochi boundary and observed there was absolute
compliance to the order as the boundaries were closed.
Speaking to journalists at the end of the exercise, the Chairman,
Anambra State House of Assembly Special Committee on COVID-19, Dr
Paschal Agbodike explained that the essence of the outing is to ensure
strict adherence to boundary closure so that Anambra State will not
record another positive case of coronavirus.
Dr Agbodike commended the Transition Committee Chairman for Orumba
South Local Government Area, Chief Raymond Onyegu who conducted the
committee round the boundaries for educating his people on the
necessary measures they have to take to be safe from COVID-19 and for
assisting the State government in provision of preventive materials
for them.
On his part, the member representing Orumba North Constituency at the
Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Emeka Aforka urged his
constituents to always apply all the precautionary measures against
coronavirus and appealed to the security personnel at all the
boundaries in Orumba North Constituency to sustain their impressive
performance so that COVID-19 does not find its way into the State.
On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman for Orumba South Local
Government Area, Chief Raymond Onyegu who informed the committee that Orumba South has seven boundary outlets leading to three States
commended them for ensuring compliance to the State Government
directive on COVID-19, assuring that he will continue to compliment
their efforts in this regard.
