Okpuno Community in Awka South Local Government Area has joined the
State government in the fight against Coronavirus Pandemic by
presenting a cheque for One Million, three hundred and thirty five
thousand naira, to Anambra State Government

The cheque was presented to the Secretary to State Government,
Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, by the traditional ruler of Okpuno Igwe
Sunday Okafor and his entourage at the Government House Awka.

Again, correspondent, Emmanuel Chigbata reports that while presenting the Cheque, Igwe Okafor posited that it was part of the
Community’s efforts to identify with the call by Governor Willie
Obiano in fighting Coronavirus as well as ameliorating the suffering
of people occasioned by COVID- 19 Pandemic.

The traditional ruler appealed to Ndi Anambra to cooperate with the
government to ensure that COVID-19 does not spread in the state.

In their various speeches, the President General of the Community,
Comrade Ignatius Okoye, Two of the Cabinet Chiefs, Chief Okwudili Ifejimalu
and Chief Chukwukelu Okafor, said that the Community is solidly behind
the state government’s response approach towards fighting the virus.

According to them, fighting the pandemic cannot be left alone for
government, but a collective responsibility.

Responding, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor, Solo
Chukwulobelu, who spoke on behalf of the State government, thanked the
community for their support, and assured that all the palliative items
and cash donated by different organizations and good spirited
individuals must be accounted for, adding that some items have been
distributed to the vulnerable people in state.

Professor Chukwulobelu explained that the donation is going a long way
in assisting to upgrade the health facilities in the state.

He thanked God that the state government is winning the fight against
COVID-19 as ninety tests conducted yesterday, all turned out negative.
