Anambra State government has inaugurated the resuscitated and expanded Obizi-Uga Regional Water Scheme.
Governor Willie Obiano performed the function at the facility which has been moribund for years.
Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the project which spans fourty kilometers, covers fourteen communities, and has eight over head tanks located in benefitting communities in Aguata Local Govetnment Area, including Ekwulobia, Igboukwu, Uga and Isuofia with a yield of seven thousand cubic meters per hour.
Governor Obiano who asked ndi Anambra to protect government facilities in their communities, disclosed that his administration is working on additional twenty communities, to accomodate all Communities in Aguata.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Public Utilities and Water Resources, Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne said that there was ongoing small town water projects in five communities in Aguata.
Earlier, the Transition Committee Chairman for Aguata, Dr. Eche Ezeibe praised Governor Obiano’s administration for the completing the scheme, noting that it has been years since it was abandoned.
