The late Anthony Okafor who was crushed to death by another vehicle while being pursued by the Police for violating the Federal Government’s curfew order will be laid to rest on the thirtieth of this Month.

The traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area, Igwe Ralph Ekpe announced this at his palace in company of his cabinet members, the representatives of the youths of the Community and the family of the deceased.

Igwe Ekpe noted that the Community has grieved enough over the untimely death of Anthony Okafor saying that it has became imperative to bury him to reduce the anger and annoyance of the youths and the entire people of the Community.

He said that in planning the burial, the Community will strictly adhere to guidelines in burial ceremonies in the State and commended the youths of the Community for their co-operation with constituted authorities.

The Father of the deceased, Mr. Eugene Okafor-Nwosu who spoke in tears recalled the promises his deceased son, the late Anthony made to him and appreciated all for rallying round them in this period of grief.

Contributing, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah who is a native of Enugwu-Ukwu, commended the youths for yielding to the State government’s plea for peace and expressed optimism that the burial will bring peace to the area.

Also speaking, the President-General of the Youths in the Community, Mr. Kenechukwu Okeke said that prior to the burial, youths of the Community have met with major stakeholders both in the police and government to address some of the excesses of security operatives in the area and expressed satisfaction with the State government’s intervention, promising that the youths will be of good behavior during the burial ceremony.
