To assist government in driving COVID-19 messages to the grassroots, the Society of Printing Practitioners of Nigeria, Onitsha Chapter, Anambra State, has presented to the state government, copies of “Situation Report on The Fight against COVID-19 in Anambra State” for onward distribution.
The National President of the Association and former Government House Printer, Mr. Nwora Egbuniwe and Anambra State chairman of the Association, Mr. Ethel Obidinso, said the gesture is aimed at partnering the state government in enlightening the public on policies and programmes, including the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
Presenting the publication, the Anambra State commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C. Don Adinuba, said the publication will go a long way in supporting the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, especially at this phase of community searching, adding that the publication will be distributed in public places, especially churches, markets and motor parks.
While noting that majority of Ndi-Anambra have been cooperative in the fight against the pandemic, Mr. Adinuba regretted that there are individuals, who are still endangering lives of millions of people by failing to comply with the directives aimed at containing the COVID-19 spread, explaining that mobile courts have been set up by the state government in various parts of the state to try offenders.
Receiving copies of the publication, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, described it as a unique contribution to the fight against the pandemic, calling on the Association to do more in empowering the youths, discouraging capital flight from the state, book piracy and other unwholesome practices from members.
Chairman of Onitsha chapter of the association, Mr. Okechukwu Akaneme, led other Executive members during the presentation.
