Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture has extended its farm inputs distribution to schools across the State for the 2020 farming season.
Presenting the inputs to Teachers at the ADP building complex in Awka, the Commissioner for Agriculture Mr Nnamdi Onukwuba called on Teachers to take the Ugbo Umu Akwukwo initiative seriously adding that most schools have large expanse of land which will be used for cropping activities.
He described Chief Willie Obiano as Agriculture-friendly Governor, who has always supported farmers with certified inputs.
He also said that the inputs support will enable the School achieve maximum yield.
Mr Onukwuba charged them to apply the inputs using best Agricultural practices in order to achieve the objective.
The Commissioner Presented pumpkin, Okro and Maize seedlings, sweet potatoes, lime, cassava stems and organic fertilizer to various schools.
The Director of Extension Services in the Ministry, Mrs Ifenyinwa Uzoka, briefed the teachers on the best agricultural practices and also disclosed that an agro Company “Harvest plus” provided some of the seedlings.
In a vote of thanks, the Principal of Igwebuike Grammar School Awka, Mr Joevita Arazu commended Governor Obiano and Commissioner for Agriculture Mr Onukwuba for their support to Schools and promised to utilize the inputs properly.
