Anambra state government has inaugurated an administrative panel of
inquiry into the Ifite-Nteje land dispute.

The panel has the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of
Anambra state Fire Service, Retired Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi as its
Chairman, and Mr Boniface Ezelefeanya as the Secretary.

Government House Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that other members of the ten – man committee include the State
Commissioner for Lands, Mr Bonaventure Enemali, Commissioner for Basic
Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, Traditional Ruler of Ukeh
community, Igwe Charles Agballa, that of Okpuno community, Igwe Sunday
Okafor and his Akwaihedi community counterpart, Igwe Wisdom Onebune,
Chief Paul Odenigbo, Barrister Ifeanyi Oguejiofor, and Mrs Chinyere
Nwabachili.

Terms of reference of the administrative panel include to examine
allegation of illegal sale of community land in the town, investigate
the activities of youths in the community which is alleged to threaten
the peace and stability of the town, and also to look into the roles
of people involved in the land crisis.

The committee has two months to submit its work to the state government.

Inaugurating the committee, Governor Willie Obiano represented by his
Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke urged them to endeavour to do justice to the
assignment given to them by the state government by ensuring that
peace is restored to Ifite-Nteje community at the end.

The Governor who regretted the increase in land crisis in the state,
called on the community to cooperate with the committee and to embrace
peace.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Lands, Mr Bonaventure
Enemali, advised Ndi Ifite-Nteje to sheath their swords as according
to him, nothing is worth more than peace.

Responding on behalf of others, the Chairman of the panel, Retired Air
Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi appreciated the state government for chosen
them for the task, and assured to do all within their powers to
restore peace in the community at the end of their assignment.
