The State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Willie Obiano to commend Miss Vivian Iloabuchi, and award her a full merit-based university scholarship for her outstanding performance as the overall best in the 2016 West African Senior certificate examination.

The House passed the resolution following a motion sponsored by the member representing Anaocha one constituency, Chief Azubuike Okoye, and twenty-eight others at yesterday’s plenary in Awka.
Chief Okoye explained that the brilliant performance recorded by Miss Iloabuchi, who hails from Agulu has placed Anambra state on the highest platform academically and projected the image of the state beyond Nigeria.
The lawmaker maintained that awarding a full merit-based scholarship in commendation of the outstanding performance will spur other students of the state origin to strive towards exceptional academic successes.
In their contributions, the member representing Anaocha Two Constituency, Mr. Charles Ezeani, his Awka South One Constituency counterpart, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor and the member for Njikoka One Constituency, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma commended the outstanding
performance of Miss Iloabuchi in the 2016 West African Senior Certificate Examination and urged the Executive Arm of Government to offer her scholarship in the state university to encourage excellence.
The Speaker pre-tempore, Chief Victor Okoye read the resolution of the House.
Also at plenary, the House passed another resolution advising the Executive Army of Government and the State commissioner of police to do all within their powers to ensure that peace and order are restored between Ukpo and Abagana, and that the state Commissioner of Police should properly investigate the causes of the disturbances between the two communities with a view to identifying the culprits and make them to face the full wrath of the law.
The House equally urged the youths of both communities to desist from causing further violence in the areas and allowed the state government to address the matters.
The member representing Dunkofia constituency, Chief Lawrence Ezeudu who raised the issue as a matter of urgent public importance said that a land dispute between Ukpo and Abagana led to the riff between the communities.
