From today Monday15th June 2020, Eke Awka Market, in Awka South
Local Government Area, will be shut down until further notice.

A release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor
Solo Chukwulobelu said it was as a result of non-compliance by the
market traders and customers with COVID-19 protocols.

The release also holds that effective Monday, 15th June, 2020, curfew
in Awka South Local Government Area will commence at eight o’clock in
the evening till six o’clock in the morning until further notice.

This action by the government according to the release is as a result
of increased cases of COVID-19 in Awka South Local Government Area.

The government however warns that the measures would be extended to
other markets across the state if it is observed that such market do
not observe COVID-19 protocols.

It urged all to be guided and take the issue of observing COVID-19
protocols seriously.
