The Administrative Panel of Inquiry into Umueri Community crisis have
invited more opinion moulders from the community, as part of their
efforts to unravel the mystery behind the crisis in Umueri.
At the commencement of the proceedings, the chairman of the panel,
Retired Justice Chinyelu Anigbogu said that those invited were
critical and top opinion moulders in Umueri whom they discovered were
very strategic in the course of their assignment but did not submit
any memoranda to the panel.
Justice Anigbogu thanked Ndi Umueri for the respect and cooperation
they have accorded the panel so far, which helped members to make
progress in their assignment.
He further revealed that Governor Willie Obiano has extended the terms
of reference of the panel, to include neighbouring communities to
Umueri which are, Umuoba Anam, Aguleri, Umueze Anam, Nando, Nteje and Nsugbe.
In the same vein, the Panel of Inquiry into Umueri Community crisis
have met with the representatives of all the Communities living around
the area to ensure a lasting peace in the Omambala area.
Addressing the representatives of the Communities made up of
traditional rulers and Presidents General, Justice Anigbogu said that
the Governor wants all the Communities living in the area to live in
peace, unity and harmony.
All the representatives of the Communities present at the hearing
promised to give the panel maximum support to succeed in their quest
to bring peace to the area.
Some of the traditional rulers and Presidents General present during
the hearing were, the President General of Aguleri, Barrister Hipolite
Onwuegbuka, that of Nteje, Mr. Benneth Chinweze, Nsugbe, Comrade Osita
Nwoye, the traditional ruler of Nsugbe, Igwe Victor Ntooka among
others.
The Secretary of the Panel, Comrade Nwabufo Nwankwo, the traditional
ruler of Nteje, Igwe Rowland Odegbo, that of Okpuno, Igwe Sunday
Okafor, their Ukwulu Counterpart, Igwe Peter Uyanwa, Air Vice Marshal
Ben Chiobi, former Commissioner for Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba among
other people were present during the meeting.
