As part of efforts to diversify the economy and boost the development of the State, Governor Willie Obiano has called on Ndi Anambra to make good use of their local products, in attracting investors in the State.
Governor Obiano stated this during a forum at Nnewi.
Governor Obiano represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke at the forum which centered on unlocking Nnewi’s vast industrial potentials emphasized the need for steady power supply which will enhance speedy manufacturing and production of goods and services.
The Governor stated that Nnewi needs a sub station adding that discussions are ongoing with the Power Minister on the need for improved value system as a way of tackling power issue.
While stressing the need to have Captain Power that will serve a useful purpose of generating power to some individuals who will be willing to pay for it, Governor Obiano maintained that it takes one person with a vision to enhance the project in order to create wealth and job opportunities for the youths.
Earlier in a keynote address, the Former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Kingsley Moghalu pointed out that the Government needs to undertake structural reforms that will focus on industrialization as well as the need for infrastructures.
Professor Moghalu noted that the Government needs to build very attractive incentives to manufacturers as Nnewi is vast in manufacturing different products and auto mobiles.
He further stressed the need for Government, both at the Federal and State level to support the industrialists by providing incentives and infrastructures to them.
Other dignitries present include the Former Minister of Power, Professor Barth Nnaji, former Anambra State Governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba, among others.
