Following latest modifications by the Federal Government of Nigeria as announced by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 especially regarding the lifting of interstate travel ban within the country from 1st July 2020 except during curfew hours(10pm-4am), the Anambra State Government wishes to inform the public that border closure activities within the State and all forms of restriction associated with same ceases today 30th June 2020.
In view of the above, the State Police Command, other security Agencies and the general public are to note that all Political Appointees and Community Youths earlier mobilised by Anambra State Government for border restriction activities across the State have been directed to stop exercising All assigned roles by 2200hrs (10pm curfew time) of 30th June 2020.
Team Leaders among Political appointees and Community youths have been further directed to take deliberate steps to actively ensure full disengagement accordingly.
Thus, enforcement of curfew especially at the borders will henceforth revert fully to the Police and other Security Agencies.
The Anambra State Government wishes to appreciate all who participated in this onerous task and thanks them for their dedication, passion and commitment, all of which made the assignment a huge success.
Government also places on record, the immense cooperation and support of the Police and All security agencies in the enforcement of border restrictions while it lasted and seeks for further collaboration in the continued fight against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thank you.
Signed:
Prof Solo Chukwulobelu
Secretary to Anambra State Government
