The Investigative Panel of Inquiry into Ifite Nteje land crisis has
continued its public hearing with the adoption of fifteen memoranda as
working documents.
The Panel, which has Air vice Marshal Ben Chiobi retired, as the
chairman, is examining allegations of illegal sell of community land,
activities of youths in the community and the allegations contained in
an e-mail by the Igwe of the community to the governor, among others.
Some of those, who submitted memranda are, Nteje Development Union,
Okofia Akaezi Family, Akpakwu Progressive Union, Umuogada clan,
Ama-Okpo Onukabi Family, and some individuals.
The chairman of the Panel, Air Vice Marshal Chiobi advised parties in
the crisis, whose names were mentioned, to appear before the Panel to
defend themselves and promised that the panel must ensure that justice
is done to the people of Ifite Nteje.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Nteje Development Union, Mr. Ben
Chinweze, had expressed confidence in the ability of the Panel to
bring a lasting solution to the crisis.
Other members of the Panel are Chief Paul Odenigbo, Igwe Wisdom
Onebune of Akwaihedi, Igwe Sunday Okafor of Okpuno, Commissioner for
Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, Igwe Charles Agbala of Uke,
Barrister Ifeanyi Oguejiofor, Mrs. Chinyere Nwabashi and Sir Boniface
Ezelefeanya, the Secretary of the Panel.
