The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor has urged the Federal Character Commission Abuja to always maintain fairness and equity in distribution of appointments and employments across the federation.
The Speaker made the call when the Anambra State representative in the Federal Character Commission, Reverend Uche Ibeabuchi and his team paid him a courtesy visit at the House of Assembly complex, Awka.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that Right Honourable Okafor while congratulating Reverend Ibeabuchi on his appointment, described him as a true son of Anambra State.
The Speaker charged the Federal Character Commissioner to use his good office to ensure that Ndi Anambra are given their quota in terms of federal political appointments and civil service employments.
He assured him that the State Legislature would give him the necessary support to achieve meaningfully for the state.
Earlier in his speech, the Leader of the team, and state representative in the Federal Character Commission, Reverend Ibeabuchi expressed satisfaction with the cordial relationship existing between the Executive and Legislative Arms of government, adding that his office would work with the state legislature for maximum productivity.
He commended the speaker, Right Honourable Okafor for the peaceful manner he has continued to pilot the affairs of the House and assured that Anambra State would get her fair shares from the Federal Character Commission.
In a vote of thanks, the Majority Leader, Dr Nnamdi Okafor expressed gratitude to the team for their visit and urged them to ensure that the state is adequately represented in all considerations by the Federal character Commission
