The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Fegge Division, Mr. Rabiu
Garuba has called on the media to intensify sensitization in educating
the populace as the watchdog of the society.

Mr. Garuba disclosed this while receiving management staff of ABS
Onitsha during a courtesy visit in his office, at Fegge.

The visit was aimed at sustaining the long lasting relationship
existing between the two institutions.

According to the DPO, media education plays a critical role in
changing the perspective of the people, urging media practitioners to
increase awareness in the programme content dished out to the public.

He observed that such advocacy will help in curbing social vices in the society.

Mr. Garuba while assuring the establishment of sustained partnership
maintained that community policing has guaranteed security of lives
and property in the society.

Earlier, the Head of station, ABS Onitsha, Mrs. Njide Ezeonyejiaku,
noted that the friendly visit was to renew a long lasting relationship
with the station as critical partner in actualizing the goals as well
as intimate him on the positive development in Onitsha station.

She appreciated his assistance and support to the station so far, and
reiterated the readiness of the station to work with him in the
crucial obligation of crime prevention through education.

Contributing the Head of News, Mrs. Chinyelu Obiejisi who acknowledged
that the relationship has widen the station’s access base with
relevant information’s on crime pattern, urged him to leverage on the
station’s hotspot in showcasing their activities.

On his part, the Head of Commercial Unit, Mr. Val Oguejiofor expressed
gratitude for the hospitality shown by the station , promising that ABS will always live up to
expectation.

Present at the visit was the Head of Programmes Unit, Mrs Ifeoma
Udechukwu and Head of Engineering, Mr. IG Ezekwesili.
