Anambra state President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene
has urged stakeholders in the state to sustain the decision to uphold
the zone arrangement for the governorship position.

Speaking to journalists in Awka, Chief Okeke-Ogene said this would
further cement stability in the political system and entrench fairness
and equity in state affairs as Anambra State has already recorded
commendable success under the arrangement.

He noted that presently, tension, politics of bitterness and acrimony
have been drastically reduced in Anambra State while sense of
maturity, unity and understanding have been promoted among the
political class irrespective of party affiliation.

The Ohaneze President also noted that the zonal arrangement has
equally reduced the cost of electioneering and discouraged the
mind-set of winner takes it all.

Chief Okeke-Ogene commended the traditional ruler of Onitsha, Igwe
Alfred Achebe, the traditional ruler of Nnewi, Igwe Kenneth Orizu and
other traditional rulers for remaining resolute in the affirmation of
the zoning arrangement.

He reminded politicians that members of the Ohaneze Ndigbo, state
Elders Forum, traditional rulers and ASATU are not interested in
contesting any political position but are rather committed to
protection of the future of the state.
