Councilors from Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha local government areas
have donated the sum of one hundred thousand naira to Anambra State
government to support the fight against coronavirus disease in the
state.

The councilors from the three local government areas, while presenting
the cheque to the Secretary to Anambra State Government, Professor
Solo Chukwulobelu, said that they found it necessary to come forward with the donation knowing that the government needs resources to fight the pandemic.

While receiving the cheque, Professor Chukwulobelu noted that the state
government was still in need of resources to contain the disease,
especially to procure Personal Protective Equipment, PPE, for health
workers who are at the frontline of the fight against the deadly
virus.

He applauded the councilors for coming forward with the donation and
charged them to continue to educate people at the grassroots on the
dangers of the virus and guidelines for staying safe.

On his part, the Deputy Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Local
Government Area, Mr. Peter Anikwata, who spoke on behalf of the
donors, said that Governor Willie Obiano’s consistent drive and sound
policies aimed at containing the virus in the state was the major
motivation for the donation.
