The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters has directed local government council authorities to be mindful of the procurement law in execution of capital projects.
The Committee gave the directive when it visited the Ayamelum Local Government Council at Anaku to exercise it’s oversight function.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that the Committee which spoke through its chairman, Dr. Pete Ibida explained that the essence of the visit was to ascertain if local government authorities are working in accordance with the law and to make corrections where necessary.
Dr Ibida who said that the exercise was not to witch-_hunt anybody urged the Ayamelum local government council area to put their financial records for the year 2019 straight.
He applauded the Head of Personnel of the local government council for following due process in the discharge of her duties and urged others to emulate her.
The Committee commended the peaceful disposition of the government staff which has resulted in smooth running of the local government affairs.
In his remark, the Transition Committee Chairman, Ayamelum Local Government Area, Barrister Benjamin Onyeabo said they will work in synergy with the Committee for the benefit of the local government area, assuring that they carry out their directive for maximum productivity.
