The Anambra State Physical Planning Board says it is committed to the enforcement of physical planning law of Anambra State to achieve appropriate development control in the state.

The Managing Director, Anambra Physical Planning Board, Mr. ChiKe Maduekwe stated this while defending the financial transactions of the Board for the year 2019 before the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts in Awka.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that
Mr. Maduekwe explained that the Board is working hard to support the state government to perform its social responsibility by generating revenue.

He revealed that the Board generated over six hundred million naira last year for the state and is working hard to generate one billion naira this year to support rapid development of the state, even as he cautioned people to desist from erecting building on unapproved areas as the Board will not hesitate to bring down any building constructed without approval.

In his remark, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, Sir Somtochukwu Udeze commended the Board for being alive to their responsibilities, adding that the Committee will visit them on daily basis to ascertain how they discharge their duties.

Also at the meeting, the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, led by the Commissioner, Lady Ndidi Mezue appeared before the Committee and defended their financial transactions for the year under review.

The Commissioner told the committee that in 2019 the Ministry rehabilitated many mentally challenged persons, trained and empowered them in various vocations of their choice.

According to Lady Ndidi, the Ministry also collaborated with the Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, a humanitarian project of the Governor’s wife, Dr. Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano to empower widows and the most vulnerable women in the state.
