Rotary Club of Awka District 9142 has called on motorists to always obey traffic rules in order to stay safe.
The call was made by the President Rotary Club of Awka Rotarian Blaze
Ibezim during sensitization of motorists in Awka.
He said the reason for the awareness was to sensitize the motorists
and road users on the need to observe traffic movement, signs and
signal.
Rotarian Ibezim reminded drivers that over speeding kills, noting that
driving without seat belts is very risky and dangerous.
Also speaking, the Public Rotations Officer Federal Road Safety Corps
Anambra State Mr. Pascal Anigbo, stressed the need for safety
consciousness and the need to obey traffic rules and signs as well as ensuring that their vehicles are in good condition.
He also stressed the need for fire extinguisher in
all vehicles and need for road users to obey traffic markings to curb road crashes.
The Director in charge of Training Innovation and Emergency Response
Anambra State Traffic Management Agency Mr. Okeke Obinna said that the
biggest challenge they are facing is the attitude of motorists and
pedestrians who have refused to accept the laws that guide the road.
He said they will continue enlightenment on the rules so that the
road users can adhere to it.
Mr. Okeke thank the Rotary Club of Awka for organizing such event
aimed at sensitising the motoring public.
