Chairman Anambra State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board Professor Steve Ibenta has called on the federal government to work towards developing Nation’s tourism industry to enhance its economy.

Speaking to newsmen in his office in Awka, Professor Ibenta urged the Nigerian elites especially researchers to go into productive research to improve the nation’s Socio-Economic advancement.

Professor Ibenta a one-time Dean Faculty of Management Sciences Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka said that Anambra State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board will look inwards towards developing the State’s tourism site to attract pilgrims from other parts of the world.
He disclosed that the board is contemplating on a visual pilgrimage to complement the present physical pilgrimage which has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic which is currently ravaging the International Community.

According to Professor Ibenta, the move will expose the intending pilgrims to information about the country they intend to visit.
He expressed confidence that the exercise will continue next year when international flight restriction is expected to be lifted and better management of the COVID-19 is perfected saying that at present the board is working out modalities on how best to improve its services to intending pilgrims.
