Anambra State Government has inaugurated Association of Taxi Car
Operators aimed at developing more business opportunities for Ndi
Anambra and meaningfully engaging more youths.

Valentine Mbadugha reports that at the inaugural meeting at the Prof Kenneth Dike Digital Library Awka, members of the association were advised to operate in line with the state government’s guildlines and deliver quality services to Ndi Anambra.

Speaking during the meeting conducted in strict compliance to COVID-19
protocols, the state Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Afam Mbanefo
noted that the state will ensure that their business is safe, secured
and reliable.

In a lecture during the meeting, Anambra State Sector Commander, of
the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Andrew Kumapayi while charging them
to abide by all the traffic rules, assured the Association of
effective synergy to promote their operational values.

On his part, the chairman on the occasion, Mr. Nwabueze Nwokoye
expressed hope that the initiative will reposition the Transport
sector and make it a more lucrative, descent and attractive profession.

The General Supervisor, Anambra State VIO, and Senior Special
Assistant to the Governor on Public Transport, Mr. Raph Okoye,
stressed the need for their vehicles to go through the computerized
inspection process, to enable them obtain the necessary documents and
operational license.

The Association, with a-fifteen-man executive, has Mr. Chekwube Okoli
as the chairman.
