The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government,
Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters, has expressed satisfaction with
the records of Idemmili North Local Government Area in 2019.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the
Committee disclosed this when they over sighted the Local Government
Council as part of their constitutional responsibilities.


The Committee observed that the Local Government Area provided records
of all the capital projects it executed during the year under review
as well as documents that enabled them to carry their oversight
responsibility.


Speaking after verifying the financial records of the Local Government
Area alongside members of the Committee, the Chairman, House Committee
on Local Government, Chieftaincy and Town Union Matters, Dr. Pete
Ibida, commended the Local Government management staff for working in
accordance with the law, which he said is what is required to
transform the local government system.


Dr. Ibida also applauded the Internal Auditor of the local government,
the Head of works and the local government Transition Committee
Chairman for being alive to their responsibilities.
He further made it clear that their visit to the twenty one local
government areas of the state is not to witch-hunt anybody but ensure
that they are working in accordance with the law.
In his remark, the Transition Committee Chairman, Idemmili North Local
Government Area, Mr Asha Nnabuife, noted that the exercise has
provided an opportunity for them to improve on their processes and
commended the committee for living up to expectations.
