The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13, Mr Danmallam Muhammed, has pledged to develop a stronger synergy with the media to achieve effective  security network  in the zone.
Mr Muhammed stated this when the Anambra State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area.


Correspondent, Daniel Ezeigwe  reports that while addressing the Journalists, Mr Muhammed who described the media as an important partner in the quest for a secure society, pledged to  work closely  with journalists in the zone.

The AIG who appreciated the value of investigative journalism to crime control, said that his leadership in the zone will ensure the protection of human rights while tackling crimes and insecurity.


On the  clash between security agents and IPOB members in Enugu, the police chief said that while strategic security planning has been done to ensure that the conflict does not spread to other states in the zone, efforts were on  to apprehend the masterminds.


Earlier in his remarks, the Anambra State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Emmanuel Ifesinachi, said that media practitioners in Anambra State are core professionals who understand the importance  of a strong tie with security bodies as working partners.


Comrade Ifesinachi therefore urged the AIG to see the media in Anambra State as willing partners  towards achieving  the security objectives of the government. 


In his remarks , the Secretary of the Union in Anambra State, Mr Emmanuel Udeagha urged the new AIG to address certain security concerns including human right violations and intimidation of civilians by security operatives.
