President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has announced that international
passenger flights will resume today, September first following a drop
in active coronavirus cases.
President Akufo-Addo said all travelers arriving in Ghana must
present proof of a negative COVID-19 test result done within
seventy-two hours before departure.
He said they will also be tested on arrival at the airport with the
result expected within thirty minutes.
The passengers, who will be required to pay for the test, will undergo
further assessment and treatment if the test comes out positive though
children under five will not be tested.
He warned all passengers to observe the safety protocols including
mandatory wearing of masks while Airlines that fail to comply with the
government directive will be sanctioned.
Air, land and sea borders were closed in March to prevent the spread
of the virus.
