The People of Orsumenyi in Nnewi South Council Area have expressed gratitude to Governor Obiano for extending COVID-19 palliatives to their community.
Speaking to the ABS, the Chairman, Orsumenyi Caretaker Committee, Chief Elobike Ojiego said they received several palliative materials from the state government to cushion the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief Ojiego listed the palliatives to include hundreds of bags of rice, cartoons of noodles and spaghetti, bags of Garri, salt and sugar among others which according to him, were distributed to two hundred and two poorest of the poor in the twelve villages in Orsumenyi.
He however appealed to the state government to repair the Amichi-Orsumenyi-Akwaihedi road, extend street lights to their community to aid security and fence Orsumenyi Boys and Girls’ Secondary Schools.
Lending his voice, the President of Youth Council Orsumenyi, Dr.
Charles Ebulue expressed happiness with the state government for remembering the poor since the inception of COVID-19 noting that Orsumenyi town has received up to four tranches of the palliatives.
On his part, a member of Orsumenyi Caretaker Committee, Chief Remijus Chukwudi, prayed that Governor Obiano’s successor will continue to assist the poor, aged and sustain youth empowerment.
Some of the villagers who received the palliatives, including Mr.
Polycarp Muoghalu, Florence Okoli, Rebecca Obi and Angelina Ifedi thanked Governor Obiano for assisting the less privileged persons and prayed for God’s blessings upon him.
