Anambra State Government has promised to provide palmtops to all Head Teachers of primary schools in the state.
Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha announced this while receiving the leadership of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter in her office in Awka.
Professor Omenugha said that the provision of palmtops to Head Teachers would help to maintain the “Tech and Teach’’ pattern of teaching in school system.
The Commissioner also said that Head teachers would soon be expected to start collecting and collating their school data using the palmtops as e-teaching and e-learning had come to stay.
Professor Omenugha noted that for pupils in the state to remain champions, teachers must undergo various capacity-building trainings.
She urged Chairman of the Association and his executive members to ensure that they improve the level of education in primary schools by organising trainings for their members, and enjoined the association to set targets for members as well as map out mission and vision road map to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the state.
The Commissioner also implored the Association to encourage their members to embrace new ways of teaching in the state, so as to become Information and Communication Technology (ICT) experts.
Chairman of the association, Mr. Johnbosco Anagwu earlier in his remarks said that the state Government had never reneged in its promise of organising various capacity building trainings for teachers in the state, noting that most primary school teachers in the state had registered for the “Tech and Teach’’ programme.
He said that such would help the teachers to be more ICT compliant in their scope of teaching and learning.
