The people of Ogbunike in Oyi Council area have trooped out en masse to hold a solidarity march in support of Governor Willie Obiano led administration as well as appreciate him for all the completed and ongoing projects in the community.


The rally was led by a community leaders, Ndi Ogbuefi Ogbunike and all political appointees who are indigenes of the community.
Correspondent, David Okpokwasili was at the rally and reports that when the ABS arrived Ogbunike, the town hall, was already filled to capacity by red cap chiefs in the community, women and youth groups as well as children.


The event kicked off with prayers and breaking of kola nuts where they prayed God to continue to bless Governor Obiano and his wife, Dr Ebele, who is a daughter of the community, with wisdom and good health to continue to govern the state and set it on the path for continuous development.


The Chairman Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Dr Peter Egenti, explained that the rally was to show the real and true voice of Ndi Ogbunike which is appreciative of the incumbent state government and its developmental strides in the State as well as the community.


The Transition Committee Chairman of Oyi Council area, Dr Nnamdi Nwadiogbu, recalled that before the Obiano government, there were no significant presence of government in the community and condemned those who are using the social media to push lies about the developmental projects being carried out by the Governor in the community.


The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogbunike Progressive Union, Comrade Chukwugozie Ikegulu could not hide his joy as he commended the people of the community for coming out en masse to show soldiarity to the governor and change the narrative being paraded by people who do not wish the community well.


Others who aired their views to show support for the rally include the Chairman, Post Primary School Services Commission, Awka, Lady Ifeoma Okaro, the President General, Anambra State Market Traders Association, ASMATA, Chief Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu, and the President, Ndi Ogbuefi Ogbunike, Chief Nwafor Onyezia.


The Community also used the rally to plead with the Governor to direct contractors handling ongoing road projects in the community back to site.
A solidarity march by youth, women, and men groups through the community accompanied by different music troupes with banners thanking the Governor and his wife for their stellar performances in infrastructure, security, agriculture and many others since he assumed office were the major highpoint of the one day Ogbunike community rally.
