Rotarian Somadina Okwelogu has been installed as the nineteenth President of the Rotary Club of Awka GRA.
The event, attracted Rotarians, the academia, friends and well wishers.
Amaka Chibuzor Okoye reports that Rotarian Somadina during his inaugural address said Rotary opens opportunities for people to live richer and more meaningful life.
He said the Club is focusing on some focal areas to impact on various communities and pleaded for public support.
In his valedictory speech, the immediate past President of the Club Rotarian Fidel Okafor expressed gratitude to God for in spite of difficulties experienced early this year from COVID-19, they are still doing humanitarian services, engaging in health outreach, assisting the indigent people and undertaking other projects and called on members to rally round the new President to make his year a success.
X-raying the four way test of Rotary, the Past Assistant Governor of the club, Sir Amobi Adirika said that if everyone will apply the test in their personal life, the society will be a better place for all, free from bitterness, rancour and bloodshed.
One of the award recipients, Chief Chukwudi Maduabum who received an Excellent Community Service Award disclosed that through his efforts, the club contributed massively in infrastructural development in his community, Ojoto and called on the State government to come to their aid in tackling some road construction.
In his remarks, Rotarian, Ikechuku Aniemena maintained that they have kept the tradition of selfless service for years visiting the poorest of the poor and helping others to access quality health care, thanking their members for the spirit of oneness and calling on people to partner them for the humanitarian services.
The event featured induction of new members.
