Anambra state Joint Task Force on Illegal Development has arrested not fewer than fifteen persons connected to illegal development, assault on government staff, among other charges.


Members of the Joint Task Force during the enforcement exercise, stopped work at various sites visited at Umuchu, Ihiala and Oraifite.


Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that at Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area, a court summon was served on a private developer, building what looks like a tower without government approval, while at other sites visited in the community, some arrests were made Also at Ihiala, more people were arrested, while some of their building materials were confiscated.


At Oraifite Ekwusigo, an ongoing perimeter fence along the access road was demolished, while stop work order was served on all illegal structures being developed in the area and some people were also arrested.
The Executive Chairman of the Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe said that the enforcement is a critical aspect of their work, and disclosed that all the people arrested will be handed over to the police for investigations and possible prosecution court.


Barrister Maduekwe said that the Board’s staff have not being able to work in those places after they were attacked , warning that they would continue to charge defaulters to court.

He enjoined the public to report erring staff to the Board rather than resort to violence, regretting that some people have started to build on waterways and under high tension cables in defiance to series of warning from the government and urged ndi Anambra to always go for government permit before embarking on any project, to avoid sanctions.
