Governor Willie Obiano has restated his commitment to ensuring completion of Anambra international cargo Airport by April next year.
Governor Obiano stated this at St Theresa’s Catholic Church Enugwu-Ukwu, during a funeral mass in honour of late Pa Edwin Okonkwo Nworah, of Umuakwu village Enugwu-Ukwu.
Correspondent Ngozi Obileri covered the event and reports that Governor Obiano while addressing parishioners of St Theresa’s catholic church Enugwu-Ukwu, government functionaries, Enugwu-Ukwu traditional stool led by the traditional ruler of the community Igwe, Ralph Ekpeh, extended and immediate family members , friends and well wishers of the Nworah family, reiterated that he is committed to ensuring that the Anambra Airport cargo will be ready for commissioning by April next year.
Represented by his Principal Secretary Sir Willie Nwokoye, Governor Obiano described the late Pa Nworah as an accomplished man who taught his children good values in life, especially Chief Uche Nworah, whom he said has taken the Anambra Broadcasting Service to a greater height, with solid support from government, making ABS the best digital state owned broadcast station in the country.
The Governor charged children of the deceased to continue to toe the path of hard work, diligence and peace bequitted to them by their father, even as he prayed for the repose of his soul.
Speaking to the ABS shortly after the interment, the wife of the governor Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano who spoke through one of her representatives, Mrs. Mitchel Onugbolu, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Reorientation, noted that Pa Nworah died a fulfilled man having helped humanity in so many ways both as a trader and as a community leader, adding that his son Chief Uche Nworah is a strong supporter of his husband’s government , a reason why she identified with him in his time of grief.
In seperate interviews, some stakeholders including, the member representing Njikoka One Constituency at the State House of Assembly Honorable Timothy Ifedioranma, his Njikoka Two counterpart Sir Pete Ibida ,the former Governor of the state Chief Peter Obi, the former Deputy Governor of the state Mr. Emeka Sibeudu, the former Senator that represented Anambra Central at the National Assembly Senator Victor Umeh, former CBN Governor Professor Charles Soludo, Anambra state Commissioner for Housing Architect Mike Okonkwo ,the Chairman of ROTECH, Chief Austine Oguejiofor, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Mr. James Ezeh, former Commissioner for Information and Communication Chief Joe Martin Uzodike, a retired Director of Programmes ABS and a renowned Nollywood Actor Chief Peter Edochie, among others, in their separate reactions noted that though losing a loved one is painful, Pa Nworah’s demise is a glorious transition, as he died at a ripe age of eighty five which called for celebration, urging the children to sustain the legacies he left behind , especially remaining united as they were before their father’s death.
The first son of the deceased Mr. George Nworah who said that he learnt a lot from his father and will take over the headship of the family, appreciated those who came to bear witness to the good life their father lived and prayed for the repose of his soul.
Another son of the deceased and the Managing Director CEO and of the ABS Chief Uche Nworah, appreciated all who came to condole them especially Governor Obiano , his wife Dr Mrs Obiano , government functionaries , ABS Board of Directors, staff and management of the ABS, CIC old boys Association, members of The House ,and all various other groups who paid condolences to them ,praying God to bless them abundantly.
Earlier in a homily during the burial mass, Reverend Father Justine Ezechukwu said that late Pa Edwin Nwora, popularly known as Nkaonadi, lived a good christian life till death as a communicant and one who loves God even when he was weak, praying God to grant his soul eternal rest in his bosom.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment Mr C-Don Adinuba later presented condolence items on behalf of Governor Obiano.
The member representing Anambra Central at the National Assembly Senator Ucheh Ekwunife, member representing Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka federal constituency Chief Dozie Nwankwo and the member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency Honourable Obinna Chidoka among others were among dignitaries that graced the occasion.
