Anambra state government in collaboration with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has organized training on Covid-19 infection prevention control for health officers, safe burial team, and ambulance drivers in Anambra state to equip them with knowledge on how to protect themselves while discharging their official duties in this Covid-19 pandemic era.
During the training which drew participants from across the state, the health managers were tutored on active case search contact tracing, sample collection, Covid-19 surveillance, prompt and complete reporting of cases, data collection and documentation, among others.
In their various lectures, the NCDC Focal Person on Infection Prevention and Corporate Control Anambra state, Dr Kenneth Nwokolo and Lab Focal Person on Covid-19 Anambra state, Mr. Chris Ideh urged the health workers to always be safety conscious while discharging their duties, reminding them that once they are infected with the killer disease, their family members and the entire society are in danger.
They reminded them to always adhere strictly to Covid-19 safety protocols especially proper wearing of face masks, face shield, hand-glove, and overall wear when coming in contact with any patient, and to properly wash their hands and apply sanitizer after handling patients.
In various interviews, some of the participants, including Mr. Chukwudubem Chukwujekwu who is in charge of Anambra state Covid-19 burial, and a Lab Scientist working with the Anambra state Ministry of Health, Lady Adaorah Ifediata said the training has widened their knowledge on how to guard themselves against Covid-19, and assured to step down the knowledge garnered to the grass root for the safety of all.
