A fifty eight man Committee on Procurement, PaCooricing, Regulation and Distribution of Petroleum Products has been inaugurated by the Anambra state government.
The inauguration which was held at government house Awka, was performed by the special adviser to the governor on legal matters and petroleum resources, Barrister Patricia Igwebuike on behalf of Anambra state government.
Inaugurating the committee Barrister Igwebuike urged members of the committee to do their job with utmost sincerity and diligence.
She urged them not to terrorise the public nor extort marketers in any guise in the cause of their duty, as those caught will be severely dealt with.
The committee has their terms of reference as follows, to ensure no unauthorized selling of petroleum products in an unlicensed locations and facilities, monitor against the selling of petroleum products in unlicensed facilities by illegal filing station operators or filling stations with rebuked licenses.
Monitor filling stations across the state on a daily basis against illegal increase in pump prices, adulteration, hoarding and other malpractices.
The committee will also stop the sitting of Liquefied Petroleum Gas plants in residential areas among others.
Responding on behalf of their members, the Chairman of the committee, Chief Chris Okonkwo thanked governor Willie Obiano for finding them worthy and assured that they will do the job according to their terms of reference and with due diligence.
