Anambra State Agency for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non Formal
Education, AANFA has received two brand new motorcycles from the
National Commission for Mass Literacy Abuja to enhance  optimal performance.

The motorcycles were presented to Unit Heads of two benefiting Local
Government Areas by the Anambra State Commissioner for Basis
Education, Professor Kate Omenugha at a training organized by the
Anambra State Agency for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non formal
Education, AANFE for Unit Heads at the ASUBEB premises in Awka.

Professor Omenugha thanked Governor Willie Obiano for equipping the
agency and making adult education free in Anambra State and stressed
the need for more awareness on the importance of adult education.
Professor Omenugha commended the Executive Secretary of the Agency Mr.
Donatus Nwosu for his efforts, commitment and impact of the agency in
achieving literacy for all in Anambra State and urged both the Unit
Heads, facilitators and the learners to always abide by all the
COVID-19 protocols.

The Executive Secretary of the Agency Mr. Donatus Nwosu said that the
Agency has put measures in place in reviving the Adult and Non formal
Education sub sector through Governor Obiano’s massive support, which
has assisted the Agency’s advocacy, mobilization and sensitization of
the one hundred and eighty-one Communities of the State noting that
the Governor has provided sign posts for easy identification of two
hundred and eighty-six adult education centers across the State.

Mr. Nwosu who also thanked Governor Obiano for providing them with an
utility vehicle for easy monitoring of the centers regretted that
early marriage, get rich quick syndrome and drop out of school are
militating against achieving literacy for all, urging the people  to embrace
the free adult education in the State.

Commenting, the Head of Administration Anambra State Agency for Mass
Literacy, Adult and Non formal Education, Mr. Onyeka Anyeji, said that
the aim of the celebration is to inculcate in their Unit Heads the
rules they should observe during learnings in this era of COVID-19,
and commended Governor Obiano, Professor Omenugha and Mr. Nwosu for
all their efforts in making Anambra State Agency for Mass Literacy,
Adult and Non Formal Education achieve greater heights.
