The Whispering Hope Africa Initiative, WHAI, has launched “Girls Lead Club” aimed at empowering women to become decision makers and significant in the society with opportunities to learn about issues of life, expand social networks and acquire skills.


The launching, which took place at Community Secondary School, Omor, Ayamelum local government area, is part of activities to mark the “International Day of the Girl Child, 2020” and was attended by the current and 43rd Miss Nigeria, Miss Beauty Tukura, as well as other girl child role models.

In her remark, Miss Tukura, charged the girls to jettison child marriages, embrace education and emulate role models that will help them live impactful lives.
The Executive Director of Whispering Hope Africa Initiative, Miss Nkechi Udegboka, explained that establishing the “Girls Lead Club” in rural communities will help empower the girl child and called for stakeholder’s efforts in achieving its objectives. UPSOT On her part, a school proprietress, Dr Lady Patricia Okeke, enjoined the girl child to put to use all that was thought at the event to secure a brighter future.


Some school children, including Miss Chioma Somadina, Mary Ugonwa, and Marycynthia Anedo, described the event as life-changing, advising fellow girls to shun early marriage but equip selves with good education and necessary skills.
