The Executive Chairman of Anambra Physical Planning Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe says more ndi Anambra now approach the Board for approval of structures before embarking on such projects.
Barrister Maduekwe was speaking during the latest edition of ‘Meet the Media’ in Awka.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that Barrister Maduekwe pointed out that it is evident in revenue generated by the Board which shot up from two hundred and forty million naira to seven hundred million naira in 2020, and on the volume of approval requests coming in.

According to him, the Board has put up measures to ensure seamless approval of building plans in the state and disclosed that the process has been automated, so that people now pay through one window, unlike twelve windows which they met on assumption of office .

The Executive Chairman who stressed that the functions of Awka Capital Territory Development Agency and the Physical Planning Board are harmonized, explained that while ACTDA which controls the Capital Territory, is in charge of twenty four towns when charted, the Board controls development in one hundred and fifty four towns in the state.

He recalled that in January, 2020, Governor Obiano waived the right of way charge to zero naira for telcos in Anambra, a move he said telecom operators are already taking advantage of and disclosed that stakeholders engagement in a program called Anambra Urban Regeneration Initiative is in the pipeline, meant to engage stakeholders in telecommunications on implementation of the right of way in Anambra.
