The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi has pleaded with the youths to refrain from violence and destructive protests as their voices have been heard.
Dr Onyemaechi made the appeal while addressing newsmen at his office in Awka as normalcy returns to virtually all parts of Anambra State.
He said he was encouraged at the speed with which the Governor Willie Obiano fulfilled his promises to the protesters including the disengagement of James Nwafor, visit to all the defunct SARS formations in Anambra State and releasing those unjustly held at the defunct SARS facilities across the state.
Dr Onyemaechi also noted that the state government also set up a Judicial Panel of Enquiry currently calling for submission of memoranda from the aggrieved.
He re-echoed the Governor’s two hundred million naira compensation for the families of victims of SARS brutality captured in the 2021 budget.
