It was a celebration of life of accomplishment at Chukwuka family, Ubili Village Nnokwa in Idemili South Council Area where friends and well wishers gathered to pay their last respect to Late Madam Regina Ugoye Chukwuka as her remains were laid to rest.
Late Madam Regina Chukwuka, Nee, Uzoezie, was the mother of a great philanthropist and chairman of Greenlife Pharmaceuticals, Dr Obiora Chukwuka.
Correspondent, Valentine Mbadugha reports that the atmosphere was that of celebration when the remains of Late Madam Regina Chukwuka who lived a century on earth was laid to rest, in Eziafakego Villa, Ubili Nnokwa.
The event attracted who is who in the state and beyond including Governor Willie Obiano, who was represented by the Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha and her Information and Public Enlightenment counterpart, Mr C-Don Adinuba.
Also in attendance were former Governor Peter Obi, former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, the member representing Idemili South constituency in Anambra state Assembly, Honorable Chuka Ezenwune, among others.
The requiem mass was presided over by the Archbishop of Onitsha, and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke who called on Christians to aim for eternity through a Godly life on earth.
In a homily during the mass, the Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor noted that longevity is a reward for good deeds and noted that moments like that call for reflection and amendments.
In their condolence messages, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C-Don Adinuba who is a friend of the deceased family, called on them to remain peaceful and sustain her good legacies.
Speaking to the ABS, the President General Nnokwa Progress Union, Barrister Emeka Mmaduabuchi, Member of Oraukwu Grammar School Old Boys Association, Engineer Simon Ukpaka and an exco member of Community Secondary School Nnokwa, Old Students Association, Mr Nonso Nzomiwu commended the family for taking proper care of the deceased which enabled her to attain hundred years of age and expressed believe that she is resting in the Lord given the life she lived on earth.
Appreciating those that came to be with them, the last child of the late centenarian, Dr Obiora Chukwuka, expressed delight that their mother lived a happy life and prayed God to reward everyone that contributed in any way towards the success of the burial.
Other dignitaries that graced the function include the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the traditional ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, as well as Igwe in Council of Nnokwa, among others.
