It was a time of grief for the Nwekes family of Umuzocha village Awka, Awka South Council Area as the body of their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Esther Nweke, was committed to earth in her husband’s compound.
At a Requiem Mass held in her honour at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, Reverend Father Everistus Oramah, charged Christians to live a communal life with those around them and be able to be witnesses to the gospel as late Mrs. Nweke did.
Speaking after the interment of her mother, Mrs. Philomena Anochili of the Administration Department of ABS, described her as a mother who impacted on her children positively, as she taught them to be truthful, forgiving, patient and above all to love God, which she applied in her daily life in relating with people.
Other children of the deceased, including Mr. Obiorah Nweke and Nkiru Nweke said their mother was a peace maker, who not minding inconveniences was a cheerful giver to many, including being a socialite who loved and was known for her dancing skills.
Some of her grand children, including Queen Anochili, Ebuka Obiorah and Chimelumeze Nweke noted that she will be greatly missed, given the fact that she loved and taught them how to do house chores, including cooking and being prayerful.
An in-law Mr. Keneth Ofili, remarked that her death was a painful one, as her disposition to him and everyone was incomparable.
Correspondent Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that late Mrs Nweke, who hailed from Amawbia, died at the age of sixty nine, after many years of battling with illness.
Condolence visits by family members, friends and well wishers, including the ABS family featured at the burial ceremony.
