Governor Willie Obiano has charged state work force to continue to work diligently towards the growth and development of the state.

Governor Obiano gave the charge in Awka during the unveiling of Anambra state NULGE Secretariat as Sir Austin Ezepue NULGE House .

Sir Austin Ezepue of the blesses memory popularly known as Agadaga, was the man who brought NULGE from old Anambra to the present Anambra state.

Unveiling the Anambra NULGE Secretariat as sir Austin Ezepue NULGE, Governor Obiano represented by Anambra state Head of Service, Barrister Harry Uduh, said the event was a unifying force that binds workers together given the personality of the late Ezepue.


Governor Obiano urged the workers to emulate the likes of the late Ezepue whom he said worked tirelessly for the good of workers and the state in general .

He called on all to be at alert in this harmattan period to avoid fire out break, be mindful of their environment and to always uphold COVID -19 protocols this season.
The member representing Nnewi North and South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency. Mr Chris Azubogwu applauded Governor Obiano for paying workers salaries as and when due and charged the state work force to reciprocate the gesture by being diligent to their duties.

In a speech, the National President of NULGE Comrade Ahmed Labu represented by the National Secretary comrade Emeka Agwuoye went down memory lane on the personality of the late Sir Austin whom he described as a dogged fighter who was in the fore front of fighting for the good of local government workers.

The Anambra state President of NULGE Comrade Chikwelu Adigwe said that the late sir Austin was the face of NULGE and therefore deserved more than the respect he is receiving saying that the event was to immortalize him.

Comrade Adigwe noted that his administration has recorded so many success due to the leadership influence of late sir Austin.

The traditional ruler of Akwaeze , Igwe CN Okpala while performing the kolanut ritual, maintained that the late sir Austin who was his subject, was a good sportsman that served humanity in all aspects.


The event commenced with a carnival where local government workers walked streets of Awka and environs as they took off from St Mathew Catholic church Amawbia through Eke Awka, Aroma and terminated at Sir Austin Ezepue NULGE House, Akwa.

The event featured presentation of post humours award to late sir Austin, and merit award to some local government staff who distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties, while cultural display and masquerade dance added colour to the event.
