Drivers of Articulated vehicles have been charged to always maintain all safety protocols to reduce road accidents.
Anambra State Sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps Mr. Andrew Kumapayi gave the charge in Awka, during his meeting with stakeholders in petroleum products carrying vehicles and other articulated vehicles to ensure accident free yuletide and beyond.
According to Mr. Kumapayi who regretted that most of the road accidents are caused by Drivers of articulated vehicles called for concerted efforts to minimize crashes on the highways.
Mr. Kumapayi used the opportunity to make a strong case for the compulsory wearing of face masks, and regular washing of hands with soap under clean running water in all terminals of articulated vehicles.
The Anambra State sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps cautioned Motorists against over speeding, and dangerous overtaking advising them to always obey all traffic rules and regulations reminding them that road safety is a collective responsibility.
In a remark the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Petroleum and Union Matters Comrade Peter Nwosu who also attended the meeting said that plans are in top gear by the government to construct a park for articulated vehicles in the state and called on drivers of such vehicles to apply decency in their operations.
Some of the participants including Mr. Izuchkwu Onwuka who is the chairman of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association in Anambra State and Mr.
Godwin Anyim, called for immediate establishment of petroleum tanker parks in Anambra State, and increased sensitization of motorists across the state on road safety measures.
They equally called for immediate repair of all the failed roads across the country to reduce accidents.
