About two hundred indigent persons have so far benefitted from the ongoing free Medicare by four out of the seven Rotary Clubs, zone seven and eight of district 9142.
The free Medicare which is part of the humanitarian services of the club was carried out at Umuzocha village town hall Awka, Anambra State.


The exercise which will last for two days has benefitted about two hundred persons of different age brackets with cases such as blood pressure, blood sugar, hypertension, diabetes and malaria who were diagnosed and treated.

Also, there were free consultations, sharing of mosquito nets, pads, and other drugs.
Trained medical personnel from the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching hospital Awka were also seen on ground attending to patients that came to be examined.


While noting that the turn up of people were impressive, the Assistant Governor in charge of zone seven of district 9142 Rotary Club of Awka Mr Emma Nnagbo, called on those that are yet to benefit to come and be part of it.

In an interview, the president of Rotary Club of Awka UNIZIK Mr Abuchi Nwozor whose club also sponsored the exercise noted that the “Family Health Days” is not just an event but a global affair wherein Rotary gives back to the society.


Mr Nwozor while noting that the gesture is an avenue for helping people in the society who cannot access good health charged everyone to come and partake of the free Medicare. UP SOT Also speaking, Roterian Helen Onwudiwe who is also a trained nurse with the COOU and one of the medical doctors Mr Obinna Nwaegbu, revealed that from what they have examined so far, most of the people are already aware of their health challenges but has refused to take care of it due to lack of funds.


Some of the beneficiaries, Mr Attah Kachi and Mrs Angela Nwali, thanked the benefactors for providing them with drugs and other health services.
