Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has joined other Catholic faithful worldwide to celebrate the feast of Christ the King.
Governor Obiano joined the commemoration at his alma mater, Christ the King College, Onitsha, in a Holy Mass, celebrated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke.
The Governor, who pledged to sustain improvement on the standard of education across the state, expressed satisfaction with the quality of education students in the state are acquiring, which according to him, would carry them through life.
He commended the management of CKC Onitsha for the great work being executed in the school.
Earlier in a homily, Most Reverend Okeke, who spoke on the topic, “Join the King, who rules forever”, emphasized that the kingship of Christ is limitless, unlike the earthly kingship and administrations.
Archbishop Okeke described love, evidenced in attending to the needs of one another as the summary of the teachings of Christ, stressing that one, who is living a life full of love, is helping to institute and establish the rulership of Jesus Christ forever.
Present at the Holy Mass were Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Commissioner for Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, her Health and Agriculture counterparts Dr Vincent Okpala, and Mr. Nnamdi Onukwuba respectively, the Transition Committee Chairman for Onitsha North, Mr. Patrick Ayamba, old boys of the College, including former Governor of the State, Mr. Peter Obi, among others.
Administration of Sacrament of Confirmation on some students by the Archbishop, sponsored by the Governor, prayers, thanksgiving and renditions were the highpoints of the Holy Mass.
