The Ohaneze Ndigbo has dismissed speculations that succession crisis is rocking the organization.

Speaking to journalists in Awka, the state president of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene said Ohaneze Ndigbo is on course to conduct a credible, free and fair election to enthrone a new leadership.

Chief Okeke-Ogene said there is no ground for the rumors on succession crisis as Ohaneze work on principles of zoning formula which gives all states in Igbo land opportunity to lead the organization at one time or another.

He explained that it is the time of Imo state to produce the next president of Ohaneze and it is the responsibility and exclusive affair of people of that state to present two or more candidates for the rest of Ndigbo to vote for during the election and made it clear that the egalitarian principles of Ohaneze Ndigbo do not give room for any individual or group to hijack or dictate to others.

The Ohaneze president urged the people to disregard the antics of whom he called few self-seeking individuals who he said have been going about masquerading as a faction of Ohaneze Ndigbo to achieve selfish interest, stressing that Ohaneze Ndigbo has only one leadership structure led by Chief Nnia Nwodo with the traditional ruler of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe as the Chairman, Board of Trustees.
