The first session of the fourth Synod of Ihiala Diocese held at St Mark’s Church Umudara, Ihiala has successfully ended with a charge on Christians not to be deceived in worshipping creatures rather than creator.


The Special service to mark the event was well attended by house of clergies, knights of the Diocese among others.

In his sermon, a guest preacher and Bishop of Ideato Diocese Right Reverend Henry Okeke reminded Christians of the need to hold the gospel tenaciously making monumental sacrifices for the expansion of the gospel and advancement of evangelism.


Bishop Okeke who lamented the level of insecurity, killings and repeated execution of Christians regretted that Christianity has suffered persecution in the Northern region calling on Nigerians to intensify prayers and discipleship.


Highlighting on the theme of the Synod “Worship God” he described it as thoughtful saying that the world have compromised the glory of God through, worshipping positions and earthly riches.

Speaking at the event, Governor Willie Obiano said the State Government has launched over two billion naira disbursement loan to farmers in the State.
Represented by the Managing Director Awka capital Territory Development Authority ACTDA, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa Governor Obiano expressed commitment in payment of leave allowances Of the State work force, while lauding the Bishop for the humanity in shepherding the flock.


Earlier, Right Reverend Professor Okoye appreciated the host community, people of goodwill as well as delegates for the unalloyed support and commitment towards actualising the Synod’s mandate.

In a remark, the Synod Secretary host and Archdeacon Ihiala Central Archdeaconry, Venerable Dr Silas Onuigbo who thanked the Bishop for the privilege said history will speak favourably on the blessings of the event.
