Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and founder of the charity organization, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano has noted that the present economic and social difficulties could be defeated when those with the economic means reach out to the poor ones around them.
Dr Obiano stated this in Ogbaru Local Government Area, having restarted her LGA tour following the flood incident that occurred in the area few months ago.
Dr Obiano who had visited the affected local government areas during the height of flood havoc to give the people at holding centres relief and emotional support, is embarking on the tour in continuation of her visits to the twenty-one local government areas of Anambra State.
Addressing the people at the council’s headquarters, Atani, the Governor’s wife stated that the need for beneficial social and economic rapport between the rich and the poor has become crucial especially at this period of economic crunch, urging those with the means to help the poor ones for a healthier and happier society.
Dr Obiano, who expressed sadness at the damage of the flood disaster, stated that even though 2020 as a year has been difficult and trying, there was every reason to show gratitude to God for the gift of life.
She also noted that her NGO, CAFE, has begun measurement for people that need prosthetic limbs and arms, as well as surgeries for children with cleft lips and palate, and called on those with the needs to reach out to her office.
The Anambra State Commissioner of Social Welfare Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, said that Dr Obiano had insisted on completing the tour knowing how passionate she is about it.
The Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Farm Implements and Mechanization, Sir Paul Nwosu, in his speech, noted that the governor’s wife’s love for the Ogbaru people is exemplified in her consistent support to the area, especially during the flood period.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Mr Arinze Awogu, explained that Ogbaru has benefitted immensely from Dr Obiano’s show of love, from building houses to indigent widows in the local government, to giving prosthetic limbs and arms to physically challenged from the area, among others thj In her usual way, the Governor’s wife gave out palliatives to widows, less privileged persons, children and the physically challenged from the sixteen communities in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Dr Obiano was joined in the visit by wife of the former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Chinwe Sibeudu.
