Sensitization on Anambra State Teaching on Air has ended in Awka North local government area with the distribution of one hundred and thirty-six Radio sets to school children.

The sensitization was initiated by Governor Willie Obiano to enlighten the rural communities on the need to ensure that children actively participate in the ongoing radio, television and online teaching, organized by the Ministry of Basic Education through the Anambra Broadcasting Service platforms.

The campaign, which covered nine local government Councils  in  the hinterland, finally came to an end with ten communities in Awka North council receiving their share from the Commissioner for  Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha at Central School, Isuaniocha.

Professor Omenugha, while distributing one hundred and thirty-six Radio sets to the communities, encouraged students in the area to keep up with their studies and participate actively in the teaching programme.

Addressing members of the communities, the chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education, ASUBEB, Chief Patrick Ugbaja, described on-air teaching as the best solution to cushioning the adverse effect of COVID-19 on education, warning that the distribution should not be taken frivolously.

In their separate speeches, the Transition Committee chairman, Awka North Council Area, Honourable Ferdinand Onwuje, represented by Mr. Innocent Chukwuka, Awka North Education Secretary, Mrs. Beneden Anaghor, the President General, Isuaniocha town union , Mr. Frank Mkpume, applauded Governor Obiano and Commissioner Omenugha for their efforts towards ensuring that Anambra State Education Sector, maintains global standard.

In a vote of thanks, a teacher and a student from Central School, Isuaniocha, Mrs. Leticia Umeadi and Chiemerie Chinwuba respectively thanked Governor Obiano for the gesture.
