Three Secondary Schools in Anambra State have received “WAEC Endowment Fund Book Prizes” for producing the first, second and third best aggregate results in the 2019 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE.

The schools are Marist Comprehensive College, Nteje, Estate Secondary School, Fegge, Onitsha, and Christ the King College, Onitsha.

The presentation took place at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, during the opening ceremony of the 58th Annual Meeting of the Nigeria National Committee of the West African Examination Council, WAEC.

Anambra State Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, who praised the schools for improving in their services, said with the successful hosting of the event, working relationship between the state and WAEC has improved, while students and schools in the state have been inspired to achieve greater heights.

She said the event, once more, brought to light the importance of ICT in education, which the Obiano administration has been espousing and encouraging.

Igwe Benneth Emeka of Umueri, called for all hands to be on deck in sustaining and surpassing the feats.

The Principal of Marist Comprehensive College Nteje, Reverend Brother Anthony Okoye, said the endowment prize will spur staff and students of the school to do more.

On his part, the best WAEC student, Jonathan Awuah Nkasah, from Ghana, but studying in Nigeria, thanked parents, teachers and friends for supporting him to break the record, promising to live up to expectations.
